Project #1 Lost and Found
Description
Shuhan's Necklace!
It was a heart-shaped necklace that I lost during my high school years. The “heart” was about an inch in length and width, half an inch in depth. It was made of silvery metal and was a bit corroded due to sweat and water exposure over time. It was engraved with some flower patterns on its surface. It could be opened from the middle, parted into two halves, which allows you to put little stuff inside of it and then lock it up. I used to put a small strand of my dog’s hair inside of it -- after my dog passed away -- and wear it all the time as if my dog was still around. However, one day I opened the “heart” only to see that his hair was gone. All of a sudden the necklace became meaningless to me, and although I still continued to wear it around I took less care of it and finally lost it somewhere unknown.
Design Process
Heart
- 1.Started with a square with two consecutive rounded edges overlapping with eachother perpendicularly
- 2.Rotated the entire structure by 45 degrees forming the heart
- 3.Made a Copy of it and changed colour and transalated it next to it to be openable
Necklace
- 1. Draw an arc and rotate it enough
- 2. Transalate the arc to position it at the heart
- 3. Copy the arc and mirror it
Dog's hairstrand
- 1. A brown arc
Reflection
This project helped me look at everything in the language of shapes and lines. Now that I think about it, everything we see is made up of straight lines or curved lines. Some more complex than the other.
